As a family photographer in London I am always on the look out for beautiful new locations for my clients. Wimbledon Common in SW London is one of my favourite spots, but it’s so easy to forget about Cannizaro Park, just off to one side of the common. It had been a little while since I last photographed any families there, but it was the perfect spot for this photoshoot with the lovely Francesca, aged a week shy of her very first birthday! We also got lucky with the last of the bluebells and even some early rhododendrons coming out which made a lovely backdrop for these portraits.
Children’s photography
Francesca was simply adorable to photograph and absolutely loved being outside. She was just about standing with some help, but loved clambering up on my blanket-covered vintage crate! Toddlerhood is such a precious, fleeting stage and wonderful to capture on camera for her parents. As always my style is very natural and relaxed; it’s all about beautiful light and sweet, genuine expressions. We had a wonderful time exploring the park and stopping for photos in the prettiest spots.
What to wear for toddler portraits
This cute little floral romper was the perfect outfit for our session together in the spring flowers. Delicate floral prints are always so lovely on girls and rompers are are great choice because they stay put! It was a tiny bit chilly out of the sunshine, so a pretty little white cardigan was called for. I usually suggest soft, muted colours are best for children or family portraits, such as creams and pastels and dusky pinks or blues. You can see here how beautifully the pink tones with the leafy green tones of the park.
