It's always a pleasure to be commissioned for maternity photography and especially when there is an older sibling involved which just adds to the sense of occasion and importance of recording this special time. This gorgeous spring session with Sophie and darling two year old Alfred coincided with a visit to London from his Norwegian grandmother so of course she had to be included in the photos too! It was actually very helpful to have another pair of hands - and eyes - to keep watch over Alfred whilst Sophie and I stole a few moments for some individual baby bump portraits. However, I think the final photograph of the day with grandmother and grandson is somehow the most beautiful of the whole photoshoot (sorry Sophie!)… it's these quiet, tender photographs that always speak to me the most.
Wandsworth pregnancy photography
Sophie and her family live in Wandsworth, but we chose the beautiful Isabella Plantation for our session which was in full bloom with all the gorgeous pink azaleas blossoming. Amazingly as it was a weekday we virtually had the place to ourselves even on a sunny afternoon! Alfred loved running around collecting stones and exploring the little streams and bridges! We even found some bluebells for him in the cool wooded areas. There was plenty of time for some photos of Alfred by himself - as well as the Mummy & Me portraits. There is always flexibility in my sessions and lovely to have so much variety.
Outdoor maternity photography
Sophie wore a pretty pink kaftan style dress for her pregnancy photos, which happily coordinated perfectly with the pink blossoms - and the warm weather! Even aside from the blossoms, it worked really well in the long golden grass. The most important thing is to wear something comfortable that suits you, particularly if there are toddlers to pick up! Sometimes clingy jersey can be gorgeous, and sometimes loose cotton… both can be equally lovely and I am always on hand to give advice. We chose to dress Alfred in a simple outfit of cotton jeans and white top because of Sophie's patterned dress. I love his stylish Scandinavian booties!
Natural family photos
As always my photography is full of soft, beautiful light and very natural family interaction.
