I've been so lucky this year with some adorable toddlers to photograph coinciding with carpets of bluebells! These beautiful flowers only last a couple of weeks so it's wonderful to make the most of them. These portraits were taken of gorgeous 16 month old Ayda and her family in early May on 'heatwave weekend' in London, in the cool of the bluebell woods. Happily, and by complete coincidence Ayda was wearing a pretty blue dress!
Natural family photography
I always strive for very natural family and children's portraits, and usually spend some time photographing the little one(s) just exploring their surroundings at the start. I love the images of Ayda here reaching out and touching the bluebells and the delight on her face. It's fair to say that even when she was tired by the end of our session she still looked ever so cute! I always encourage natural family interaction, whether that's walking down a woodland path together, cuddles, or playing aeroplanes. Sometimes we sing nursery rhymes or play music on an iPhone to keep them happy too!
Toddler photographs
Mums often mention before their session that their "energetic" toddler doesn't stay still and they have a really hard time getting photographs of their little darlings! It's probably fair to say that cameras on iPhones are not designed to capture fast-moving children. However, thanks to amazing technology (and a little skill on my part) this is never an issue during my sessions. I work to make each of my portraits beautifully sharp whatever my subject is up to!
Wimbledon family photoshoots
If you are interested in a family photoshoot in Wimbledon, London, or even further afield I would be thrilled to hear from you. In the meantime here's a few of my favourites from this family portrait session.
