As a London-based children's and family photographer, I often visit West Hampstead to take outdoor children's and family portrait photographs, either in Hampstead Heath, or at my clients' homes. I was thrilled to visit West Hampstead again last week to photograph this lovely family in their gorgeous back garden in the spring sunshine!

Children's portraits

We had a great time taking photographs with smiley baby Sam (almost one year old), and his cheeky big brother too. I love the soft luminous light in these natural light portraits, which is my signature look! The crocuses were just coming up through the grass, which added some extra sparkle and colour to the photos. As always in my family photoshoots, I take a mix of individual children's portraits and some group family photos, and make sure I capture lots of genuine natural expressions! After a little session in the garden, we went back inside for some more relaxed family photos in Sam's bedroom. Sam's mum had dressed the boys perfectly for their family portraits in soft muted colours, with some texture. Sam looks so grown up in his little grey jacket!
