It's such a treat when clients have access to a beautiful communal garden for their family photoshoot in London! This baby portrait session was held in Rachel and Jonathan's large garden in St John's Wood, North London.
London baby photography
Newborn baby photography usually takes place within the first 5 to 10 days of baby's arrival in order to achieve those lovely sleepy portraits. However, things don't always go to plan, and many of my clients are simply not up to being photographed this early on - if they have even thought about it! All is not lost though - beautiful, natural lifestyle baby photography can be done at any time. These baby portraits were all taken at 7 weeks. There are some advantages too - baby is often much more alert and holding eye contact which is so precious to photograph!
Outdoor family photography
We were so lucky to have gorgeous summer sunshine for these family photos! My natural style of family portraits is always to make the most of the available light and locations like this one are perfect, with a little shade from the plane trees and gorgeous flowers. With all the dappled light, some of the photographs definitely had a French vibe to them! Rachel had mentioned to me that she was really keen to take some outdoor family portraits, so after a few photographs indoors (which made for some beautiful black and white portraits of daddy and baby), and on their terrace, we made our way to the garden. Usually I will schedule my baby photography in the morning, but I prefer my outdoor photoshoots in late afternoon or early evening when the light is starting to warm and soften.
