Kensington Gardens was the perfect spot for this relaxed family portrait session. We were blessed with some lovely golden spring sunshine and both bluebells and cherry blossom!

Natural family photography

In all my photoshoots I love to capture a mix of more 'posed' portraits (for the grandparents!), as well as plenty of relaxed, candid moments. What remains constant throughout my photography is my use of natural light to create warm, soft, flattering portraits, as well as natural emotion. I look for luminious light filtering through leaves or flowers, and will suggest where to take the photographs so everyone looks their best, in the prettiest backgrounds. You can see this style to great effect in the photographs from this family session in the park - with the late afternoon sunlight glowing through the cherry blossom behind the tender portraits of mother and daughter, or the kids larking around with their balloons.

Children's portraits

I quite often will suggest bringing props or toys, particularly to engage older children, who quickly get bored standing for photos! The kids had great fun during this session blowing bubbles and playing with balloons. I love the natural expressions here, and their parents were thrilled with how the photographs captured their huge personalities! Here's some of my favourite portraits from their session.
