It’s so lovely to see clients again to record the next stage of family life in new family portraits. I previously photographed Kelly and toddler Aiden in a “Mummy & Me” session back in early April in Kew Gardens. Kelly’s baby bump has grown beautifully since then so it was time for a family photoshoot with dad too!
Natural family portraits
As much as I love to create gorgeous pregnancy portraits It is wonderful to include husbands, partners and older siblings in maternity photographs as well. These natural family portraits were all taken in the late afternoon sunshine on Wimbledon Common. We were so lucky with beautiful, soft light, perfect for my signature backlit photography! The soft, pastel tones of their clothing, and Kelly's cream maternity dress also worked so well with the natural environment of the common. As to timing, these maternity portraits were taken at 34 weeks. Between 32-34 weeks is usually the best time for pregnancy photography, when the bump is large enough to be a "proper" bump, but clients are still mobile and have just enough energy for a photoshoot!
Children's portrait photography
Aiden, almost 2 years old, is such a lovely toddler to photograph, full of smiles and different expressions. As with many of the children I photograph, he loved collecting stones and fronds of purple heather. Of course, his gorgeously curly hair is an absolute dream to photograph! It's wonderful to capture this special time with his parents before baby number two arrives. Simple, sweet outfits are best for children's photography, in pale pastels and neutral tones, such as creams, blues, denim and pale greys. These cute little dungarees Aiden is wearing were just perfect!
London family photoshoot
Wimbledon Common has recently become one of my favourite locations for family photoshoots, although I travel throughout London (between SW London and North London) for my sessions.
