As a family photographer based in Kensington, West London I frequently travel all over the city (and even outside of London) to my clients. However, once in a while it’s lovely to have a family portrait session on my doorstep! This family photo shoot in Chiswick took place early in the morning in their beautiful riverside garden on Chiswick Mall. The river was in full flow at that time of day and as you can see in the photographs below, we made the most of the pretty sparkling light on the water and filtering through the fronds of weeping willow.

This family make a point of making sure they get family portraits taken each year, however this year they decided to do something different and contacted me to do an outdoor family photography session, rather than one in a studio as they'd done before. As well as gorgeous natural light, my experience with children’s portraits is that little ones much prefer running around outdoors, playing and exploring. This nearly always results in lovely natural expressions too! Even if you aren’t lucky enough to have a garden, there are so many lovely outdoor locations in Chiswick; Chiswick House and gardens is a particularly wonderful spot and a favourite of mine for family photography.
