This beautiful set of children’s portraits were commissioned as a surprise for their daddy’s birthday! It’s such a wonderful idea (especially for dads who are nearly always impossible to buy for!) and I love that the aim is to print one large portrait to hang in their kitchen where they’ll see it every day.
Natural children’s portraits
My goal is always to create beautiful, natural portraits with soft, pretty light. Sebastian is one and not yet walking so we did a little sequence of images of him and his sister sitting together on a blanket. It was so cute to watch them interact with one another! Sebastian had us all in fits of laughter watching him try to crawl onto my vintage wooden box and he loved wriggling his chunky little toes in the fresh spring air! We then did some exploring around the park whilst I took some simple portraits of his sister Jasmine.
Outdoor family photos in London
My speciality is making the most of gorgeous natural light in very natural environments with soft warm colours and tones. It can be tricky at this time of year because sunrise and sunset are so far apart (and the April showers to contend with!), but this just shows what can be achieved even in bright sunlight. Spring also provides the most magical backdrop for family photos; I love all the new fresh green leaves on the trees and beautiful pink flowers just starting to blossom.
Here’s what their mummy had to say when she saw the photos!
"They are absolutely amazing. So beautiful and exactly what I was looking for. It's even brought a tear to my eye! You've managed to capture their beautiful personalities and the light and setting is just gorgeous!"
