Portraits

Hurlingham Club family photography | West London

It is officially summer and we suddenly have days and days of seemingly endless sunshine! It is absolutely wonderful for my family photoshoots - the light is just perfect for early morning portrait sessions, like this one at the Hurlingham Club in West London.

Hurlingham Club family photos

Several of my clients are members of the Hurlingham Club, but this was the first time I have photographed a family in the grounds. The club is over 45 acres and we were totally spoilt for options as to where to shoot in the lovely flower gardens. Some of my favourite portraits were taken right at the start of our session on the pretty Wisteria Bridge over the lake. The sunshine bouncing off the water created the most gorgeous skin tones, and the leading lines of the bridge framed the kids wonderfully. We also took some family photos on the beautifully manicured Tea Lawn in front of the main house and along the walkways leading to the Low Garden. The flowers are in full bloom at the moment and provided such a colourful backdrop - not to mention a point of interest for the older two boys who were fascinated by the bees on the lavender.

Kids photography

It is proving to be a summer full of family photo shoots with three or more kids! The three brothers in this session are aged 3, 2 and 1 year old respectively, which can be quite a challenge as typically they all want to do different things! I find it’s best to photograph kids just hanging out being themselves and exploring, playing pooh-sticks or feeding the ducks, and showing me their favourite parts of the gardens. These sort of lifestyle photos really capture childhood and the personality of children so much more than staged portraits (although of course we make time to do some of those too - they are always favoured by grandparents!). Here’s a few of my favourite photos from our shoot.
