I can barely believe it is the middle of February; the sun is shining, and it feels like spring has arrived! This sweet couple were so lucky to time their pregnancy photoshoot with this spell of gorgeous warm weather, and we made the most of it with an outdoor session in Hyde Park, in central London. Hyde Park is a special place for them, being close to their home in Notting Hill, and somewhere they visit frequently. I love the area around the Round Pond, and Kensington Palace itself, which has a variety of backgrounds to use, as well as the natural grass/trees.
Pregnancy photography in London
Iris contacted me late in her pregnancy, right before she was leaving London to have her baby overseas. She had not originally planned to have pregnancy photos taken because she wasn’t keen on a studio look, and was worried about doing a session outdoors in winter. However, she discovered my style of pregnancy photography on Google at the last minute and contacted me to fit in mid-week photoshoot during February. The exact brief was for the photos to look “warm, and not cold!”. As these photos show, it’s quite possible to create warm, beautifully-lit photos in winter, if you know the best angles and how to use natural light to create soft glowing images. This shoot is also a good example of why there is no need for outdoor maternity photos to be complicated, or heavily styled; I love simple, natural sessions that are full of love and beautiful soft light. As usual in my photoshoots we made sure to capture a mix of photos of the baby bump, mother-to-be by herself, and also with her partner. Here’s some of my favourite shots!
