Winter is still a fabulous time for pregnancy photoshoots, despite the chilly conditions - and after all, baby is not going to wait until spring! If you can brave the cold, then winter days can be absolutely magical for maternity photographs. Here's one of my most recent winter pregnancy sessions to inspire you!
North London pregnancy photography
Meet Melissa and her husband David, 35 weeks pregnant with their first baby. One of my favourite spots for pregnancy photography in North London is - of course! - Hampstead Heath. On a sunny weekend afternoon it can be fairly busy, but because it's so large there was plenty of private space for our session. I love the long rugged grasses on the Heath, which add such a lovely texture and the sunlight through the trees. We also made the most of the warm sunshine against the walls of Kenwood House, as well as the lovely courtyard around the side of the building which is a wonderful suntrap. Whilst is was beautifully sunny, there was a cold wind, so we made a brief pit stop at the cafe for Melissa to warm up! The rest of the time we made sure David was close at hand to warm her up with lots of cuddles. Husbands aside, my recommendations for winter pregnancy photos is to make sure you have layers on underneath your clothing; a long jersey dress to the ground is perfect for disguising thermal leggings, as well as hiding warm winter footwear! I'm always happy to advise on clothing choices more generally, and often have clients send snapshots of dresses they are thinking about wearing. It definitely helps me visualise the session as well!
