As much as I love colour and warmth and sunshine especially for my outdoor photography, there is always a place for timeless black and white family portraits. Quite often I will create black and white images from my 'at home' family photography - it suits the simplicity of the parent and newborn baby bond and the indoor environment so well.
Newborn baby photography in Battersea
These series of portraits are of adorable three week old baby Billy, photographed at his Battersea home with proud new parents Zoe and Chris. These photographs are typical of what sort of portraits can be achieved during at 'at home' family session, with the emphasis being on the connection with baby. I love to keep things simple and natural in my photographs and strive to capture that beautiful emotion from both parents, individually and together. Posing is also kept very natural, but I will help with gentle suggestions to make the most of the soft natural light and most flattering angles.
At home family portraits
My clients love that I travel to them, especially during those first few weeks of a new baby's arrival! All my at home baby photography sessions are baby-led, meaning that I work around baby needing to feed or be changed - or even here, Dad needing to dash off back to his business! It is all very flexible and time is built in to allow for settling and nursing without any pressure whatsoever. From my perspective, the fact that my clients are relaxed and in their familiar environment makes for the most natural and intimate portraits.
